INSTRUCTIONS
PROJECT 1: Mobile Application Proposal
For the first project, we are required to create a proposal document for our mobile application project. We must redesign an existing mobile application that we find unsatisfactory in terms of the user experience or interface design, and this project is subject to preliminary approval by the module coordinator. The document will determine whether the mobile application idea is worthy of advancing to the next development phase.
Things to include in the proposal:
1. Introduction
- Purpose: Revamp existing mobile app to elevate user experience and interface quality.
- Stress the pivotal role of mobile app design in shaping user contentment.
2. Background and Context
- Evaluate the current app's design and functionalities.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Competitive analysis.
- Gain insights into user demographics and requirements.
3. Goals and Objectives
- Establish clear objectives for the redesign initiative.
- Prioritize addressing current deficiencies and enhancing user satisfaction.
- Define primary and secondary goals to align with user expectations.
- Developing your design strategy
4. User Research
5. References
- Curate pertinent articles, books, and design samples for inspiration.
- Detail methodologies for conducting user research.
- Describe the methods you will utilize to collect user feedback and gain insights.
- Devise a robust plan for user testing and validation
5. References
- Curate pertinent articles, books, and design samples for inspiration.
On week 1, we need to find 3 apps that we feel need improvement or have a low distribution. At first, I made the wrong choice and searched for three apps of the same type
On week 2, I chose TGV, Eatigo, and Steam to do this task. I have received some feedback on the modifications made to my PowerPoint presentation. I heard from my friend that many classmates are doing STEAM, and in the end, I chose TGV to do the final task.
Final Progress Proposal Slides
For WEEK3, I conducted some research for the final task and used TGV, GSC, Maoyan apps to purchase tickets and experience the differences between them.
WEEK4 After receiving feedback, I conducted further research on the application I selected. I will determine the content of the proposal based on the provided standards.
Prepare the final proposal slides
Final Project 1: Mobile Application Proposal
FEEDBACK
WEEK2
Eatigo includes several additional pages, such as category page,
restaurant page, map page, and reservation page. Please ensure that all
relevant screenshots are included in the current design slide. In
addition, the slide lacks Eatigo's rating and only shows comments. Most of
these comments are from 5 to 6 years ago, so if possible, please replace
them with the most recent ones.
The selection on STEAM Mobile has no conclusion.
WEEK3
Need to make some adjustments to the spacing and layout design of the
slides.
WEEK4
Lack of competitive analysis, user needs, primary and secondary
objectives. The font is too crowded now, adjust the layout and line
spacing.
REFLECTION
Experience
What worries me the most about this project is actually the need for a speech, and I haven't given any speeches before. This has been worrying me for a whole week, for which I have prepared for a long time and written many speeches. Fortunately, I finished speaking in the end. I should improve my English so that like many local students, I don't need a speech script. The teacher needs to confirm that the content of the proposal slides is very helpful. Without these, doing this assignment would be much more difficult.
Observation
There are also several classmates who choose to make movie theater apps like me, but we did not choose the same movie theater app. I can see some weaknesses from their speeches that I didn't expect. Everyone has different ideas.
Findings
Even apps of the same type may have some differences in design, and using their app to compare with one's own app can quickly identify problems.
