INSTRUCTION
Project Overview: LearnAR Book
Project Name: Object Buddy
Project objective: To develop an augmented reality (AR)
application that helps school aged children learn to recognize
letters, animals, and objects, making the learning process more
interactive and fun. Object buddy uses 3D animation, sound effects,
and interactive commentary to enable children to learn while playing,
enhancing memory and understanding.
Background analysis
Current learning experience
In the traditional process of literacy and knowledge learning,
school-age children may encounter dull teaching methods, lack visual
and interactive stimulation, and find it difficult to maintain
long-term interest in learning. In addition, parents or teachers often
find it difficult to find vivid teaching methods that are suitable for
children's understanding abilities.
Comparison of Similar Solutions
At present, some children's learning applications have adopted
animation and interactive elements, but lack immersive experiences of
augmented reality, making it impossible to achieve true interactive
learning. Object buddy enables children to interact with virtual 3D
models through AR technology, making the learning process more vivid
and effective.
Advantages of Object Buddy
Object buddy uses augmented reality technology to turn flat book
content into a vivid 3D world, allowing children to scan images in
books through their phones or tablets and see vivid 3D animals,
objects, and text. This learning experience is more vivid, can
effectively attract children's attention, and help them better
understand and remember new knowledge.
Project objectives
Enhance the fun of learning: Through AR technology, words, animals,
and objects are presented in 3D, providing children with dual visual
and auditory stimulation during learning.
Assist teachers and parents: enable teachers and parents to easily
teach their children through this application, improve their learning
efficiency and interest.
Cultivate learning interest and curiosity: Through interactive
experiences, stimulate children's curiosity about learning, and make
them more interested in literacy and understanding animals, objects,
etc.
Application design process
1. User role creation
I have created three user roles, including children, teachers, and
parents, each representing different needs:
Children need a fun and interactive learning style to enhance their
learning motivation.
Teacher: They need teaching tools to help them present concepts and
knowledge more vividly.
Parents: They hope their children can learn independently at home and
master knowledge through interesting ways.
2. User Journey Map
I have created a user journey diagram and analyzed the pain points of
children in traditional learning methods, such as boredom and
difficulty in understanding. Next, I created an updated user journey
diagram to demonstrate how Object Buddy can help children overcome
these pain points and improve learning outcomes in interactive
experiences.
Application Function Introduction
main interface:
After the application is launched, the main menu is displayed,
including options for "literacy", "animals and objects", and
"quizzes".
Literacy page:
Children can see 3D letter models by scanning letter cards. Each
letter has corresponding animation and sound effects to help them
remember.
Animal and Object Page:
Children can scan animal or object cards and see 3D models appear on
the screen. The model will be equipped with sound effects and
explanations, such as animal calls and descriptions of object
characteristics.
Test:
After learning words and objects, children can take a quiz to
strengthen their memory. The test uses animations and interactive
questions to allow children to review what they have learned while
playing.
