TASK 3

With the knowledge attained through design principles, we are required to apply these knowledge by creating an artwork through any type of medium while conveying your visual message relating to your UNSDG goals and purpose of your creation.

Among the 17 projects at UNSDG, I have chosen the 14th ’Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development‘.

The plastic bags found at the bottom of the deepest trench in the world, even in one of the most remote places on Earth, cannot avoid the harm of plastic waste. Marine animals often mistake plastic objects for food. Seals, whales, turtles, and other animals can also be strangled by discarded fishing gear or waste.

Replacing the subtitle with "make the ocean  pure again" would be better

FINAL DESIGN

The main principles I use in this design are contrast and emphasis.

The use of colors enhances this effect: the contrast between the brightness of marine life and the coldness of plastic waste emphasizes the opposition between the beauty of the ocean and the pollution caused by waste. The size and shape of hands and plastic bags, as well as the design of details, further guide the viewer's attention to the fragility of marine ecology and the necessity of protection.

The combination of the ocean and plastic bags also implies a close connection between humans and the environment, as well as the direct consequences of our actions. The design of this picture, with a hand held posture, showcases a huge fish that has been sealed by a butterfly, implying that protecting the ocean is the responsibility of humanity.I view the entire marine ecosystem as a fragile object, and through this design, I convey the idea of reducing pollution and protecting the ocean.

Design Principle:

Comparison - The vivid colors of marine organisms inside transparent fish and the surrounding gray garbage

Focus - attention is first drawn to the large fish and hands at the center, achieved through the emphasis on size, color, and position, further strengthening the core information of protecting the ocean.

Balance - The elements in the poster are evenly distributed, with hands and fish in the center position and the surrounding garbage evenly distributed, creating a visual balance.

Symbolism - The use of symbolism in design, such as fish symbolizing marine life, garbage symbolizing pollution, and hands symbolizing human responsibility to protect the ocean.

Unity and Harmony - Although there are multiple elements in the image, they maintain a sense of unity through a common theme (ocean conservation) and color scheme (ocean blue and garbage gray).
